The És Broll Folk Group is a non-profit cultural association deeply rooted in the Ibizan town of Santa Eulària des Riu. It was founded in 1982 on the initiative of Ana Costa and Miquel Serra, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of the “ball pagès” (traditional Ibizan dance).
In those years, significant tourist development and the arrival of new cultures began to relegate the native customs of the island of Ibiza to the background. In response to this social change, És Broll emerged as a cultural answer, with the purpose of keeping alive the roots and safeguarding the Ibizan traditions of folk dance and music.
In its early days, the group was formed by about twenty young people who began performing at local celebrations and patron saint festivals in the municipality, such as the February 12th festival of Santa Eulària and the First Sunday of May, thus reviving the folkloric atmosphere of these festivities.

Thanks to the dedication of its members and the authenticity of its performances, És Broll soon began to gain cultural prominence, leading to participation in nationally and internationally renowned festivals such as the Arrelament Festival, the World Folk Dansi Festival, the Atlantic Festival, and the III CIOFF Folkloriada in Hungary.
Over these more than four decades, the group has experienced sustained growth, allowing it to play a fundamental role in the intergenerational transmission of the “ball pagès,” ensuring its continued practice, study, and dissemination beyond Ibiza’s borders. By showcasing the richness of its dances, music, costumes, and traditions, És Broll has become a true ambassador of Ibizan culture, taking it to countless corners of the world, including Utah, Germany, Argentina, Miami, Hungary, France, Andorra, the Netherlands, Malta, Lithuania, and Poland, among others.
Currently, the És Broll Folk Group is a large family and has achieved consolidation with nearly a hundred members, including dancers and musicians of all ages. It also stands out for its contribution to the social life and cultural revitalization of the town through the organization of traditional costume courses, participation in craft fairs, collaboration in exhibitions, and the realization of folk music workshops.
