Preserving tradition. Sharing culture.
The Federation of Groups coordinates and promotes traditional dance, the groups, and the activities that keep alive the intangible heritage of our islands.
OUR HISTORY
The Federation:
past, present, and future
In 1998, the Federation of Traditional Dance and Popular Culture Groups of Ibiza was founded (initially as the Federation of Traditional Dance and Popular Culture Groups of Ibiza and Formentera), at the initiative of various representatives of the traditional dance groups of the island of Ibiza.
Its presentation in the Pitiusas Islands took place at the traditional rural festival organized for the benefit of Central American victims of Hurricane Mitch.
Board of Directors
On July 14, 1998, the first board of directors was constituted, with Ms. Pepita Torres, representative of the Sant Jordi group, as president. In 2000, Edu Sánchez, representative of the l’Horta group, presided over the Federation. In 2002, following a change in the statutes, Toni Tur «Sendic», representative of the Colla des Broll, was appointed president and served until 2007. Currently, Maria Marí, representative of the Labritja Colla, holds the position.
